Candle Safety Instructions & Tips

Posted by Crossroads on Jan 20th 2023

Crossroads candles are made with very clean burning, blended paraffin wax which allows us to add the maximum amount of fragrance. Each candle is poured in our factory in Bucyrus, Ohio and contains lead-free wicks for even burning. We are very proud that 100% of all materials in our candles are made in the USA.

Here are a few important tips to keep your premium Crossroads candles burning safely for as long as possible:

  • Before burning, always trim the candle wicks to ¼ inch using a wick trimmer or scissors.
  • Remove any wick trimmings or debris from the candle before each lighting.
  • Always use a heat-resistant candleholder specifically designed for candle use.
  • Burn candles in a well-ventilated area, away from drafts, vents or air currents.
  • Do not burn a candle for longer than 4 hours at a time; cool for at least 2 hours before relighting.
  • Use a candle lighter or long matches when lighting a candle.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep candle away from flammable materials or anything that can catch fire.
  • Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Never touch or move a candle while it is burning or while the wax is liquefied.
  • Do not burn a candle all the way down; stop burning when 1/2” of unmelted wax remains in jar.
  • Use a wick dipper or candle snuffer to extinguish the candle and make sure wick embers are no longer glowing.
  • Don’t touch or move the candle until it has completely cooled.
  • Install a smoke detector in every room where candles are burned.
